John Paul Cusack made his debut in the comedy-drama ‘Class’ (1983).
After appearing in ‘Sixteen Candles’ (1984), he appeared in a starring role in the adventure-comedy-romantic film ‘The Sure Thing’ (1985), followed by several films, including ‘Better Off Dead’ (1985), ‘One Crazy Summer’ (1986), ‘Hot Pursuit’ (1987), ‘Eight Men Out’ (1988), ‘Tapehead’ (1988).
Cusack’s lead role in the acclaimed romantic-drama ‘Say Anything….’ (1989) brought him fame. He played a con-man in the crime-thriller ‘The Grifters’ (1990). After starring in ‘Map of the Human Heart’ (1992), ‘Roadside Prophets’ (1992), ‘Bullets over Broadway’ (1994), Cusack produced, co-wrote and acted in the black-comedy crime-film ‘Grosse Point Blank’ (1997).
Cusack featured in the acclaimed film ‘Being John Malkovich’ (1999). His performance in the romantic-comedy-drama ‘High Fidelity’ (2001), which he co-wrote and produced, fetched him nominations. He then starred in ‘America’s Sweethearts’ (2001), ‘Serendipity’ (2001), ‘Runaway Jury’ (2003), ‘Igor’ (2008).
Cusack appeared in the psychological-horror film ‘1408’ (2007), and the disaster film ‘2012’ (2009). He portrayed poet ‘Edgar Allan Poe’ in ‘The Raven’ (2012). He essayed a serial-killer in ‘The Frozen Ground’ (2013), played ‘Richard Nixon’ in ‘The Butler’ (2013), and starred in ‘Maps to the Stars’ (2014), ‘Love & Mercy’ (2014), ‘Never Grow Old’ (2019) and many more.
