Harold Ramis was an American actor, director, comedian, and writer, best known for his role as Egon Spengler in ‘Ghostbusters’ (1984) and ‘Ghostbusters II’ (1989). His other movies that have received positive reviews include ‘National Lampoon’s Animal House’ (1978), ‘National Lampoon’s Vacation’ (1983), and ‘Back to School’ (1986).Â
He received a ‘BAFTA’ award for ‘Best Original Screenplay’ for ‘Grounding Day’ (1993). He was the screenwriter for the movie ‘Caddyshack II’ (1988), which failed at the box office.  ‘Club Paradise’ and ‘Armed and Dangerous’ received mixed reviews. ‘Year One’ (2009) was the last movie that he acted in, wrote, produced, and directed.Â
Ramis was the main writer of the script for the comedy television series ‘SCTV.’ He was the director of the popular series ‘The Office’ (2005 – 2013), ‘American Masters’ (2012), and ‘Atlanta’ (2016). He often collaborated with Ivan Reitman and was an inspiration for subsequent generations of comedians and filmmakers like Jake Kasdan and Jay Roach after his death in 2014.
