A Love Song for Bobby Long is a drama film revolving around a former professor Bobby Long, who spends his days drinking with Lawson Pines, his former teaching assistant. They spend their time in a house which was owned by a deceased lounge singer, but when the singer’s daughter shows up to reclaim the property of her mother, Bobby and Lawson try to find ways to keep the house.  

After losing his job, a perturbed museum guard Sam Baily returns with dynamite and demands to be rehired. He takes a group of school children hostage and accidently shoots an ex-colleague. While delivering a package for his African American CEO Thomas, he is mistaken for a voyeur, after which he not only gets beaten up, but also ends up losing his job. In order to get justice for himself, he decides to kidnap his boss.
