Taye Diggs first appeared in the American police drama series ‘New York Undercover’ in 1996. He went on to make his big-screen debut in the 1998 American romantic comedy-drama film ‘How Stella Got Her Groove Back’ directed by Kevin Rodney Sullivan. The film received a 50% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and grossed over $39.2 million on a budget of $20 million. Following his debut, he went on to star in films like ‘Go’ (1999), ‘The Wood’ (1999), ‘House on Haunted Hill’ (1999), and ‘The Way of the Gun’ (2000). In 2001, he became a part of the American legal comedy-drama television series ‘Ally McBeal’ created by David E. Kelley. He played the role of ‘Jackson Duper’ and starred in 10 episodes of the show. The following year, he portrayed ‘Andre Romulus 'Dre' Ellis’ in the American romantic comedy film ‘Brown Sugar’ directed by Rick Famuyiwa. The film received mostly positive reviews from critics and holds a 66% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Diggs also received 2 ‘Teen Choice Award’ nominations, along with an ‘NAACP Image Award’ nomination for his performance in the film.
