Melissa Ann McCarthy made her onscreen debut with the TV-series ‘Jenny’ (1997). She played a small part in the film ‘Go’ (1999), followed by appearances in ‘Charlie’s Angels,’ ‘Auto-motives,’ ‘Disney’s The Kid’ in 2000.
McCarthy’s role as ‘Sookie’ in ‘Gilmore Girls’ (2000-2007) brought her recognition. After appearing in supporting roles, she starred in science-thriller ‘The Nines’ (2007), black comedy ‘Pretty Ugly People’ (2008), and as ‘Dena’ in sitcom ‘Samantha Who?’ (2007).
McCarthy’s performance as ‘Molly’ in ‘Mike & Molly’ (2010), and in the comedy film ‘Bridesmaids’ (2011) won her acclaim and awards. She was part of ‘This is 40’ (2012) and ‘Hangover III’ (2013). She earned nominations and awards for hosting ‘Saturday Night Live.’
McCarthy co-starred in ‘Identity Thief’ and ‘The Heat’ (2013). She co-wrote and starred in ‘Tammy’ (2014) and featured in action-comedy ‘Spy’ which brought her accolades. She then co-created and starred in ‘The Boss’ (2016).
McCarthy played the lead in ‘Can You Ever Forgive Me?’ (2018) fetching praise and nominations. She has been executive producer of several TV series and films.
