Albert Lincoln Roker Jr. started as a weather-anchor during his university years (1974-1976). From 1978, he was weather-presenter for NBC, first at Cleveland, and then at New York. Roker began hosting the CNBC weekend talk-show ‘The Al Roker Show’ from 1995. In 1996, he became a regular weather-forecaster on ‘Today’ and was also a co-host of ‘3rd Hour Today’ (2012-2017). He set a record of 34-hour non-stop weather forecast in November 2014, and later, set more such ‘Guinness World Records.’
Roker has been (since 1995) co-host of ‘Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade’ coverage and also the coverage of ‘The Rose Bowl Parade,’ and ‘The Christmas Tree lighting at Rockefeller Center.’
Roker hosted several game-shows, including ‘Remember This?’ (1996-1997), substitute host for ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire?’ (2007), ‘Celebrity Family Feud’ (2008), and other shows such as ‘Rocker on the Road,’ ‘Tricked-out Tailgating,’ ‘Al Roker’s Big Bad Barbeque’ and more.
Roker appeared as himself in numerous TV-series, including ‘Seinfeld,’ ‘Mad about You,’ ‘Will & Grace,’ ‘Sesame Street,’ ‘Saturday Night Live,’ ’30 Rock,’ ‘The Blacklist,’ amongst others. The TV-series wherein he appeared in guest-roles include ‘NewsRadio,’ ‘The Single Guy,’ and ‘Freedom: The History of US.’
Roker provided voice in animated-films, ‘Robots’ (2005), ‘Madagascar’ (2005), ‘Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs’ (2009) and sequel (2013), ‘Kung Fu Panda 3’ (2016), and animated-series ‘The Proud Family,’ ‘Superman: The animated Series,’ ‘Cyberchase’ and others.
Roker played cameo roles in ‘The Big Year’ (2011), ‘Sharknado 2: The Second One’ (2014) and all its sequels, ‘Ghostbusters’ (2016). He also featured in TV-movies ‘Morning Show Mysteries: Mortal Mishaps’ (2018), and ‘Morning Show Mysteries: Death by Design; (2019), which were based on the books he co-authored.
