Kate McKinnon made her screen debut in the LGBT-themed sketch comedy program ‘The Big Gay Sketch Show’ in 2007. The show ran for 3 seasons and aired its final episode in 2010. She continued to appear in television series like ‘Mayne Street’ (2008), ‘We Have to Stop Now’ (2010), ‘Concierge: The Series’ (2010), ‘Vag Magazine’ (2010), ‘Robotomy’ (2010-2011), ‘The Venture Bros.’ (2010-2016), ‘The Back Room’ (2011), and ‘The 40-Year-Old 20-Year-Old’ (2011). In 2012, she made her big-screen debut in the comedy film ‘My Best Day’ directed by Erin Greenwell. That same year, she also joined the main cast of the American late-night live television sketch comedy and variety show ‘Saturday Night Live’ created by Lorne Michaels. The show completed its 46th season in May 2021, becoming one of the longest-running network television programs in the United States. McKinnon has also received several awards, including 2 Primetime Emmy Awards, for her performance in the series. That same year, she also portrayed Dr. Jillian Holtzmann in the Paul Feig-directed American supernatural comedy film ‘Ghostbusters.’ Despite receiving positive reviews from critics, the film tanked at the box office.
