Dutch actor Michiel Huisman began his career on Dutch television working in an episode of ‘Voor hete vuren’ in 1995. Three years later, in 1998, he became a part of the longest running Dutch soap opera ‘Goede tijden, slechte tijden’ and played the supporting role of Rover in its 11 episodes. The same year he worked in an episode of tv series ‘Kees & Co’. In 2010, he was roped in to play the role of Martijn Zwager in the romance drama series ‘Bloedverwanten’ (12 episodes) and was also cast as Sonny, a Dutch busker who plays keyboards and guitar in the HBO’s drama series ‘Treme’. The latter series was set in New Orleans post hurricane Katrina and was about people who try to rebuild their lives while upholding their unique culture. Michiel Huisman acted in the 35 episodes of the series (till 2013). His role in the last series was thereafter made a series regular in the 5th and 6th season (2015-2016) and he got to play the character in 13 more episodes. For his work in the series, he was twice nominated, along with other cast members, for the ‘Screen Actors Guild Awards’ for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series (2016 and 2017). On television, he was seen in the television movie ‘The Sixth Gun’ (2013) too, whereas on big screen, he became part of the action-adventure horror movie ‘World War Z’ (2013), the biographical adventure drama ‘Wild’ (2014), the fantasy romance drama ‘The Age of Adaline’ and the mystery horror drama ‘The Invitation’ (both 2015. The latter was also a box office hit. In 2016, he starred as Walter Davidson in the Discovery Channel’s 3-part miniseries ‘Harley and the Davidsons’.

The historical romantic drama ‘The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society’ received positive reviews from critics and audience and has 81% Tomatometer score and 7.3/10 IMDB rating. The family adventure drama ‘A Boy Called Christmas’ and the sports drama ‘Indian Horse’ have an approval rating of 83% and 80% respectively on Rotten Tomato.
On television, Michiel Huisman was roped in to play the lead roles in the Netflix supernatural horror drama miniseries ‘The Haunting of Hill House’ (10 episodes, 2018) and the HBO Max dark comedy drama mystery thriller series ‘The Flight Attendant’ (8 episodes, 2020). The critically acclaimed first series, wherein he portrayed the character of Steven Crain, was about a family facing haunting memories of their old mansion and the events that eventually led them to flee from it. It won him a nomination at the ‘Saturn Award’ for Best Supporting Actor in Streaming Presentation. The latter series, in which he was seen as Alex Sokolov, revolved around a flight attendant who wakes up one morning in hotel room to find a dead man next to her and no memories at all as to what happened.. In 2021, he became a part of the six-part ITV thriller series ‘Angela Black’.
