Peter Dougan Capaldi, Scottish actor, writer-director, made his debut with TV-film ‘Living Apart Together’ (1982), and was noticed in ‘Local Hero’ (1983). He appeared in ‘The Lair of White Worm,’ ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ (both 1988), and ‘December Bride’ (1991).
After his first TV-appearance in series ‘Crown Court’ (1984), Capaldi featured in several TV-films and series including ‘John & Yoko: A Love Story’ (1985), ‘The Story of a Recluse’ (1987), and ‘Mr. Wakefield’s Crusade’ (1992). Â
Capaldi won awards as writer-star of road-film ‘Soft Top, Hard Shoulder’ (1992), and was writer-director of short-comedy ‘Franz Kafka’s It’s a Wonderful Life’ (1993) which earned him high acclaim. He was writer-director of ‘Strictly Sinatra’ (2001).

Capaldi’s breakthrough role as ‘Malcolm Tucker’ in ‘The Thick of It’ (2005-2012), and spinoff film ‘In the Loop’ (2009) brought accolades and international recognition. His role as ‘Twelfth Doctor’ in sci-fi series ‘Doctor Who’ (2013-2017) fetched immense popularity.
Capaldi starred in ‘The Three Musketeers’ (2014), ‘Paddington’ (2014) and sequel, ‘Paddington-2’ (2017) and biopic ‘Benediction’ (2021).
