But when Bandit picks up hitchhiker Carrie, the runaway bride of Sheriff’s son, sheriff Buford T. Justice gives Bandit a high-speed chase across the states, with police from four states pursuing the careering cars.

James Dickey adapted this movie from his 1970 novel Deliverance. The story involves four urban men who embark on a weekend canoeing trip down the wild Georgia River.
