Charles Durning was an American actor, best known for playing ‘Governor’ in ‘The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982) and ‘Col. Erhardt’ in ‘To Be or Not to Be’ (1983). He earned ‘Academy Award’ nominations for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ for both the roles. He won a ‘Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor’ for playing ‘John "Honey Fitz" Fitzgerald’ in the TV miniseries ‘The Kennedys of Massachusetts’ (1990). He earned numerous ‘Emmy Award’ nominations for his performances. He made his first significant film appearance in the comedy ‘Harvey Middleman, Fireman’ (1965). He starred in more than 200 films, including ‘Dog Day Afternoon’ (1975), ‘Spy Hard’ (1996), ‘State and Main’ (2000), and ‘Bleeding Hearts’ (2015), which was his final film role.
