American actor, comedian, writer, composer, and conductor Jackie Gleason is remembered for his brash visual and verbal comedy in the television series ‘Honeymooners’ (1955 – 1956). His other appearances on television include ‘The Life of Riley’ (1949 – 1050), ‘This is Show Business’ (1950), ‘Comedy Hour’ (1951), ‘The Red Skelton Show’ (1955) and ‘This is Your Life’ (1958).Â
His highest rated movies include ‘All Through the Night’ (1941), ‘The Hustler’ (1961) and ‘Requiem for a Heavyweight’ (1962). His movies ‘Smokey and the Bandit’ (1977) and ‘Superman II’ (1981) also did well at the box office. ‘Smokey and the Bandit II’ (1980) failed to make the same impact as its predecessor. During the same period, in the early 80s, ‘The Toy’, ‘The Sting II’ and ’Smokey and the Bandit Part 3’ brought his ratings down. Â
Gleason has also appeared in musicals like ‘Keep off the Grass’ (1940), ‘Hellzapoppin’ (1942) and ‘Take Me Along’ (1959). He has a number of singles and albums to his credit.Â
