Katie Holmes made her film debut with the Ang Lee-directed 1997 American drama film ‘The Ice Storm’. The film received critical acclaim upon release but could not perform at the box office due to a limited release. The year 1998 proved to be quite favorable to Holmes as got the lead role as ‘Joey Potter’ in the American teen drama television series ‘Dawson's Creek.’ She remained a part of the show until 2003 and won 5 ‘Teen Choice Award’ nominations for her performance in the series.
