Regina Hall started her acting career with television commercials. She made her television debut in 1997 in the police drama series ‘New York Undercover.’ Hall was next seen in the 1999 romantic comedy-drama film ‘The Best Man’ which marked her official big-screen debut. The following year, she got her breakthrough role as ‘Brenda Meeks’ in the parody film ‘Scary Movie.’ Even though the film received a lukewarm response from critics, it managed to make big numbers at the box office. She returned to play the character of Brenda Meeks in ‘Scary Movie 2’ (2001), ‘Scary Movie 3’ (2003), and ‘Scary Movie 4’ (2006).Â
Thereafter, she starred in films like ‘First Sunday’ (2008), ‘Law Abiding Citizen’ (2009), ‘Mardi Gras: Spring Break’ (2011), and ‘The Best Man Holiday’ (2013). In 2014, Hall starred as ‘Joan’ in the Steve Pink-directed romantic comedy film ‘About Last Night.‘ The film opened to positive reviews and managed to become a commercial success.Â
In 2018, Regina Hall earned critical acclaim for portraying ‘Lisa Conroy’ in the comedy film ‘Support the Girls.’ She bagged several awards and accolades for her performance, including the ‘Independent Spirit Award’ and ‘Gotham Award’ nominations, and became the first African-American to win the ‘New York Film Critics Circle Award.’Â
Apart from films, Hall has also appeared in several television series and shows such as ‘Law & Order: Los Angeles’ (2010–2011), ‘Real Husbands of Hollywood’ (2014–2015), ‘Grandfathered’ (2016), and ‘The Gong Show’ (2017–2018). She is currently seen in the historical dark comedy series ‘Black Monday’ where she plays the role of ‘Dawn Darcy.’
Regina Hall is all set to appear in the upcoming thriller film ‘Master’ directed by Mariama Diallo. She will also be seen in the upcoming film titled ‘Me Time’
