Nicholas King Nolte started his acting career with regional theater. After appearing on TV in a few uncredited roles, he was seen in series ‘Griff’ (1973), ‘Barnaby Jones,’ ‘Adams of Eagle Lake’ (1975). He got a substantial role in series ‘Rich Man, Poor Man’ (1976).
Following a first few uncredited film roles, Nolte appeared in ‘Return to Macon County’ (1975), and then had starring roles in ‘The Deep’ (1977), ‘Who’ll Stop the Rain’ (1978), ‘Cannery Row’ (1982). He starred in ‘48 Hrs.’ (1982), and its sequel, ‘Another 48 Hrs.’ (1990). His other films of the period were ‘Under Fire’ (1983), ‘Grace Quigley’ (1985), ‘Extreme Prejudice’ (1987).
Nolte received accolades for ‘The Prince of Tides’ (1991) and ‘Affliction’ (1997). His notable films include ‘Cape Fear’ (1991), ‘Mulholland Falls’ (1996), ‘Afterglow’ (1997), ‘The Thin Red line’ (1998).
Nolte played supporting parts in ‘Clean’ (2004), ‘Hotel Rwanda’ (2004), ‘Tropic Thunder’ (2008), ‘Parker’ (2013), and earned nominations for ‘Warrior’ (2011). He starred in ‘A Walk in the Woods’ (2015) and ‘Return to Sender’ (2015).
Nolte’s TV-appearances include ‘Luck’ (2011-2012), ‘Gracepoint’ (2014), and the lead role in ‘Graves’ (2018-2017). His recent film appearances are ‘The Padre’ (2018), ‘Last Words’ (2020) among others.
