Frank Grillo started his career by appearing in commercials for various brands, including ‘Sure deodorant’ and ‘American Express.’ He made his movie debut in 1992 in ‘The Mambo Kings,’ a French-American musical drama directed by ‘Arne Glimcher.’ The film opened to positive reception and even earned many nominations, including an ‘Oscar’ and ‘Golden Globe Award’ nomination for its song "Beautiful Maria of My Soul."
In 1993, he appeared in the "Ladies Night Out" episode of the crime drama television series 'Silk Stalkings,’ making his television debut. Frank got his big break in 1996, when he starred in the radio and television series ‘Guiding Light.’ He played the role of ‘Hart Jessup’ and remained a part of the show till 1999. The following year, Grillo starred as ‘Anthony Stigliano’ in the television sitcom series ‘Battery Park.’ In the 2002 sci-fi/action flick ‘Minority Report,’ Frank played the role of a ‘Time Cop.’ The film became a massive success and earned several nominations.
Grillo starred in films like ‘April’s Shower’ (2006), ‘iMurders’ (2008), ‘Pride and Glory’ (2009), and ‘Edge of Darkness’ (2010). In 2012, he appeared in the Kathryn Bigelow-directed thriller ‘Zero Dark Thirty.’ The movie received critical acclaim with many critics listing it in their top 10 list of movies.
In the year 2014, Frank starred in the Marvel superhero film ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ where he played the role ‘Brock Rumlow.’ He earned a lot of attention for his portrayal of a comic book super villain. That same year, he starred in the action-horror film ‘The Purge: Anarchy.’ He played the role of ‘Sergeant Leo Barnes’ which became his first leading role in a movie. Grillo reprised the role in ‘The Purge: Election Year’ in 2016. The year 2016 also saw the release of ‘Captain America: Civil War’ where Frank reprised his role as ‘Brock Rumlow.’
He went on to appear in movies like ‘The Crash’ (2017), ‘Wolf Warrior 2’ (2017), ‘Reprisal’ (2018), ‘Point Blank’ (2019), and ‘Jiu Jitsu’ (2020), The year 2021 saw multiple releases of Grillo including ‘Body Brokers,’ ‘Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard,’ ‘Ida Red,’ and ‘Copshop.’
