Peruvian-Scottish actor Henry Ian Cusick began his acting career on stage. On screen, his first few works were in an episode each the television series ‘Taggart’ (1993), ‘Performance’ (1997) and miniseries ‘Murder Rooms: Mysteries of the Real Sherlock Holmes’ (2001). He was next roped in to portray the recurring role of Jason in BBC One’s medical drama series ‘Casualty’ (2001-2002, 9 episodes). In 2005, Henry Ian Cusick joined the cast of the American adventure fantasy drama tv series ‘Lost’. Initially, he was signed for the recurring role of Desmond Hume in the 2nd season of this ABC series; however, from 3rd season onwards, his role became a part of the main cast. He continued to portray the character till season 6 (2010) and in 2006 earned a ‘Primetime Emmy Award’ nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series. In addition, the series also won him the 2006 Best Guest Actor award at the ‘Gold Derby TV Award’ and ‘OFTA Television Award’ as well as the 2008 ‘Gold Derby’ Ensemble of the Year award (shared with other cast members). In films, he was seen in the horror mystery drama ‘Half Light’ (2006), romance thriller ‘9/Tenths’ (2006), action crime thriller ‘Hitman’ (2007) and fantasy comedy drama ‘Dead Like Me: Life After Death’ (2009, direct-to-video release).
In 2012, he was seen in the main role of Stephen Finch in the 1st season of the ABC’s political thriller series ‘Scandal’. Afterwards, he appeared as a guest cast in an episode of the 4th season of the series (2015). In 2013, he directed and acted in a short film titled ‘Dress’ which won the ‘Hawaii International Film Festival’ Audience Award for Best Short Film. As a director, Henry Ian Cusick also directed a couple of episodes of the sci-fi mystery drama series ‘The 100’ (2017-2018), a show wherein he played the main role of Marcus Kane in 6 seasons from 2014 to 2019. Both ‘Scandal’ and ‘The 100’ have a Rotten Tomato score of 93%.
