Chyler Leigh West made her big-screen debut as ‘Cindy’ in the 1997 American action film ‘Kickboxing Academy,’ directed by Richard Gabai. In 1999, she joined the main cast of the drama television series ‘Safe Harbor.’ The show was canceled after 10 episodes due to poor ratings. In 2001, she starred as ‘Janey Briggs’ in the American teen parody film ‘Not Another Teen Movie,’ directed by Joel Gallen. While the film opened to negative reviews from critics, it was a commercial success, grossing over $66.5 million against a budget of $15 million.
In 2002, she grabbed the role of ‘June Tuesday’ in the sitcom series ‘That '80s Show.’ The show failed to gain the attention of the audience and was hence canceled after 13 episodes. That same year, she was also seen playing the role of ‘Sarah Mickle’ in the television series ‘Girls Club.’ The following year, she joined the main cast of the American legal drama television series ‘The Practice.’ In 2005, Leigh was seen playing the role of ‘Carla Noll’ in the drama series ‘Reunion.’ While ‘Reunion’ started on a high note, the show’s ratings soon started to drop which led to its cancellation after 13 episodes.
She was next seen in the medical drama television series ‘Grey's Anatomy’ in 2007. She played the role of ‘Dr. Lexie Grey’ and remained a part of the show till 2012. Right after her exit from the show, Leigh starred as ‘Molly Reins’ in the action thriller film ‘Brake’ directed by Gabe Torres. In 2015, she got her breakthrough role as ‘Alex Danvers / Sentinel’ in the superhero television series ‘Supergirl.’ The show aired its final episode in November 2021. Leigh reprised her role as ‘Alex Danvers’ in ‘Arrow’ (2017), ‘Flash’ (2017, 2021), and ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ (2017 and 2020).
