Molly Kathleen Ringwald initially performed as child-artist on stage. Her first screen-appearance was on TV-sitcom ‘Different Strokes’ (1979-1980), and its spin-off ‘The Facts of Life’ (1979-1980).
Ringwald played a supporting role in romance-comedy-drama ‘Tempest’ (1982) fetching nomination. Her breakthrough performance as a teen in ‘Sixteen Candles’ (1984) earned praise, followed by successful films ‘The Breakfast Club’ (1985) and ‘Pretty in Pink’ (1986).
Ringwald starred in ‘The Pick-up Artist’ (1987), ‘For Keeps’ (1988), ‘Fresh Horses’ (1988). While starring in several French films during 1990s, she also featured in ‘Strike it Rich’ (1990), ‘Betsy’s Wedding’ (1990), ‘Something to Live For: The Alison Gertz Story’ (1992) amongst others.
Ringwald received appreciation for TV-miniseries ‘The Stand’ (1994), sitcom ‘Townies’ (1996) and cable-series ‘Remember WENN’ (1996-1998). Concurrently, she starred in ‘Malicious’ (1995), TV-film ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’ (1998), ‘In the Weeds’ (2000), ‘Not Another Teen Movie’ (2001) which fetched nomination.
Ringwald’s further appearances include TV-film ‘The Wives He Forgot’ (2006), series ‘The Secret Life of the American Teenager’ (2008-2013), and films, ‘Wishin’ & Hopin’ (2014), ‘Jem & the Holograms’ (2015), ‘King Cobra’ (2016). She appears in a recurring main role in series ‘Riverdale’ (2017-present).
