Andrew McCarthy is an American actor, travel writer and TV director best known for directing the ‘Emmy-Award’ winning series ‘Orange is the New Black’ (2013-2019). His first major role came in the 1983 show ‘Class.’ In the 1980s, he became a part of the a group of young actors known as the ‘Brat Pack.’ He made his ‘Broadway’ debut in ‘The Boys of Winter’ in 1987. He also appeared in a few films such as ‘ Mannequin ‘(1987) and ‘Less Than Zero’ (1987) during this time. His performance in Broadway version of ‘Side Man’ in 1999 earned him a ‘Tony Award.’ His other appearances came in TV shows such as ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ (2000), ‘The Twilight Zone’ (2003), ‘Kingdom Hospital’ (2004), ‘Lipstick Jungle’ (2008-09) and ‘White Collar’ (2011). He has also directed certain episodes of shows such as ‘Gossip Girl’ (2010-12), ‘The Blacklist’ (2015-18) and ‘Good Girls’ (2019).
