Ally Sheedy started her career as a teenager, acting in local stage productions. In 1981, she starred in various television films, and also appeared in the serial police drama, ‘Hill Street Blues.’
‘Bad Boys,’ the coming-of-age crime drama film marked her feature film debut. She was most active during the 1980s, when she appeared in several films, including the US comic science fiction film, ‘Short Circuit,’ the Cold war science-fiction film, ‘WarGames,’ the coming-of-age film, ‘St. Elmo’s Fire,’ the comedy fantasy film, ‘Maid to Order,’ and the comedy-drama film, ‘The Breakfast Club.’ She also appeared in ‘High Art,’ and independent film in which she portrayed Lucy Berlin, and received various accolades, including awards from the ‘National Society of Film Critics,’ ‘Independent Spirit Awards,’ and ‘Los Angeles Film Critics Association.’
