Louis Winthorpe is a well-to-do broker working for Mortimer and Randolph Duke, who decide to switch Winthorpe’s lifestyle with that of street hustler Billy Ray Valentine’s, for a bet to test whether heredity or upbringing decides the character. So Valentine gets Winthorpe’s job while Winthorpe is falsely framed for a crime. As the two realize the situation, they design their own plan.
