Arnold Schwarzenegger is an Austrian-American actor who has earned the nickname, "the terminator", for appearing in James Cameron's top grossing 'Terminator' franchise. Even before he stormed the box office with 'The Terminator' in 1984, he had earned a cult following for one of his best roles as Conan in the sword-and-sorcery epic 'Conan the Barbarian' (1982) and its sequel. Some of his best films – 'Commando' (1985), 'Raw Deal' (1986), 'Predator' (1987), 'The Running Man' (1987), 'Red Heat' (1988) and 'Total Recall' (1990) – reinforced his no-nonsense macho avatar, and were all successful at the box office.
He started his film career in 1969 with one of his worst movies, 'Hercules in New York', a role he regretted later in his life. However, he went on to earn the 'Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year' for his supporting role in 'Stay Hungry' (1976). Some of his critically acclaimed movies of the time include 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day' (1991), 'Junior' (1994) and 'True Lies' (1994).
After serving two terms as California Governor, he returned to acting with another set of top grossing films like 'The Expendables 2' (2012), 'The Last Stand' (2013), 'Escape Plan' (2013) and 'Terminator Genisys' (2015).
