The American actor, singer, writer, musician, and comedian made his movie debut in the 1982 film ‘48 Hours’ for which he got a ‘Golden Globe’ nomination for ‘New Star of the Year’.
Eddie Murphy starred in a number of successful movies including ‘Trading Places’ (1983), ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ (1984), ‘Beverly Hills Cop II’ (1987), ‘Coming to America’ (1988), ‘The Nutty Professor’ (1996) for which he received a lot of nominations including a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor, Dr. Dolittle (1998), ‘Bowfinger’ (1999), and ‘Daddy Day Care’ (2003).
In 2006, Eddie Murphy portrayed the role of James (Jimmy) "Thunder" in the musical drama movie ‘Dreamgirls’ for which he won a ‘Golden Globe’ and ‘Screen Actors Guild Award.’ He also received an ‘Academy Award’ nomination for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ for his performance in the film. Some of his most successful hits in the 2000s include ‘Tower Heist’ (2011) and ‘Mr. Church’ (2016).
He has also given his voice in movies like ‘Mulan’ (1998) and ‘Shrek Series (2001-10). His worst movies include ‘Boomerang’ (1992), ‘Vampire in Brooklyn’ (1995), ‘Nutty Professor II’ (2000), ‘Dr. Dolittle 2’ (2001), ‘The Adventures of Pluto and Nash’ (2002), ‘Norbit’ (2007), ‘Meet Dave’ (2008), etc. His highest-grossing movie to date remains to be ‘Beverly Hills Cop’.
