Tatyana Marisol Ali appeared as a 6-year-old child artist on children’s educational program ‘Sesame Street’ (1985-1997), then as a contestant on ‘Star Search’ (1987). Her first film appearance was in the standup-comedy film ‘Eddie Murphy Raw’ (1987), followed by minor role in the action-comedy ‘Crocodile Dundee II’ (1988).
In 1990, Ali joined the main cast of the sitcom ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ (1990-1996) as ‘Ashley Banks,’ which proved her breakout role, fetching awards and nominations. She rendered songs in many episodes of the series and then also pursued her musical career.
Ali appeared in several TV-series, including ‘Getting By,’ ‘In the House,’ ‘Living Single,’ ‘Fastlane,’ ‘Half & Half,’ and more. She was part of many moves, including the TV-movie ‘Fall into Darkness’ (1996), the neo-noir thriller ‘Kiss the Girls’ (1997), the slasher-film ‘The Clown at Midnight’ (1998), the black-comedy ‘Jawbreaker’ (1999), the gangster-film ‘Brother’ (2000), and the comedy-drama ‘The Brothers’ (2001) amongst others.
Ali starred as ‘Lileana’ in the comedy-drama film ‘Nora’s Hair Salon’ (2004) and its sequel (2008). She played a recurring role as ‘Roxanne’ in the soap-opera ‘The Young and the Restless’ (2007-2013) earning accolades. She produced and starred in the web-series ‘Buppies’ (2009-2010), and portrayed ‘Tyana Jones’ in the sitcom ‘Love That Girl’ (2010-2012), which brought in nominations. She played ‘Maya’ in the comedy-drama series ‘Second Generation Wayans’ (2013).
Ali’s other movies include the sports-drama ‘Glory Road’ (2006), the thriller ‘The List’ (2007), the drama-film ‘Mother of Child’ (2009), the comedy-drama ‘Dysfunctional Friends’ (2012),  the drama-film ‘Home Again’ (2012), the thriller-anthology ‘Locker 13’ (2014), ‘Supermodel’ (2015), ‘Doe’ (2018), and ‘A Picture Perfect Holiday’ (2021).
Ali also starred in several Christmas movies, including ‘Dear Secret Santa’ (2013), ‘Wrapped up in Christmas’ (2017), ‘Jingle Belle’ (2018), and ‘Christmas Hotel’ (2019). She provides voice as ‘Mrs. Jones’ in the animated-series ‘Fancy Nancy’ (2018-present).
