Charles Quinton Murphy began his screen career with small part in ‘Harlem Nights’ (1989) and as additional crew for ‘Coming to America’ (1988).
After appearing in ‘Mo’ Better Blues’ (1990) and ‘Jungle Fever (1991), Murphy was noticed in a substantial role in the comedy-film ‘CB4’ (1993). He was the screenwriter for ‘Vampire in Brooklyn’ (1995) and ‘Paper Soldiers’ (2002), and also featured in ‘The Player’s Club’ (1998) and ‘Death of a Dynasty’ (2003).
Murphy got a break as writer-cast member on comedy-sketch show ‘Chappelle’s Show’ (2003-2006), where he featured in ‘Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Stories,’ earning popularity. Thereafter, he appeared in ‘King’s Ransom’ (2005), ‘Roll Bounce’ (2005), and ‘Night at the Museum’ (2006).
Murphy was writer-voice actor for ‘Norbit’ (2007), and also provided his voice for the TV-series ‘The Boondocks’ (2005-2010), and the TV-movie ‘Thugaboo’ (2006). In 2010, he released a stand-up special ‘Charlie Murphy: I Will Not Apologize.’
Murphy then appeared in ‘The Perfect Holiday’ (2007), ‘Frankenhood’ (2009), ‘Our Family Wedding’ (2010), ‘Lottery Ticket’ (2010) and ‘Meet the Blacks’(2016), and played recurring roles in TV-series ‘Are We There Yet?’ (2010-2012), ‘Black Jesus’ (2014-2015), ‘Power’(2017), ‘The Comedy Get Down’ (2017-Posthumous release).
