Victor Garber made his debut in the 1973 musical film ‘Godspell’ where he portrayed ‘Jesus Christ.’ The following year, he made his first television appearance in the "Cyrano" episode of the anthology series ‘Hallmark Hall of Fame.’ He went on to appear in television series such as ‘Great Performances’ (1976), ‘The Best of Families’ (1977), ‘Tartuffe’ (1978), and ‘Charley's Aunt’ (1983). In 1985, he starred as ‘Jackson Beaudine’ in the comedy-drama television series ‘I Had Three Wives.’ The show was canceled after airing 6 episodes due to low ratings. In 1987, he joined the cast of the comedy-drama television series ‘The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd.’ He played the role of ‘Dennis Widmer’ and remained a part of the show until it went off-air in 1991.
In the 1997 epic romance and disaster film ‘Titanic,’ Garber portrayed ‘Thomas Andrews,’ the naval architect in charge of the plans for the ocean liner Titanic. The film opened to universal acclaim and was nominated for 14 ‘Academy Awards.’ ‘Titanic’ was also a massive box office success and went on to become one of the highest-grossing films of all time. In 2001, Garber joined the main cast of the action thriller and science fiction television series ‘Alias.’ His performance as ‘Jack Bristow’ in the series earned him 3 ‘Primetime Emmy Award’ nominations. The show aired its final episode in 2006. He was next seen in television series like ‘It's All Relative’ (2003), ‘Will & Grace’ (2004), ‘Justice’ (2006), ‘ReGenesis’ (2007-2008), ‘Eli Stone’ (2008-2009), and ‘Republic of Doyle’ (2010-2013).
He starred as ‘Ken Taylor’ in the 2012 American historical drama-thriller film ‘Argo’ directed by Ben Affleck. The film opened to critical acclaim with critics praising the direction of Affleck and the performance of the cast. ‘Argo’ was also a major box office success, grossing over $232.3 million against a budget of $44.5 million. Garber returned to television and was seen in series like ‘Deception’ (2013), ‘The Good Wife’ (2014), ‘Working the Engels’ (2014), ‘Power’ (2014-2020), ‘Modern Family’ (2017), ‘Spirit Riding Free’ (2018), ‘Tales of the City’ (2019), and ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ (2020).
He last appeared in a voice role in the 2021 television special ‘Beebo Saves Christmas.’ Garber will be next seen in ‘The Gettysburg Address.’
