Actress Aida Turturro’s first screen appearance was as ‘Grace’ in comedy-film (Sundance Film Festival’s Grand Jury Prize-winner) ‘True Love’ (1989) followed by a prostitute’s role in comedy-film ‘What About Bob?’ (1991). After romantic-comedy ‘Jersey Girl’ (1992), she appeared in her cousin John Turturro’s directorial debut drama-film ‘Mac’ (1992), and also in his later films romantic-comedy ‘Illuminator’ (1998) and musical romantic-comedy ‘Romance and Cigarettes’ (2005).
Turturro began her TV appearances with different roles in TV-series ‘Law & Order’ (1990-1996). She had a main role in drama-series ‘The Wright Verdict’ (1995). During 1990s, she played small roles in films including comedy-drama ‘Life with Mickey’ (1993), black-comedy mystery-film ‘Manhattan Murder Mystery’ (1993), drama-film ‘The Saint of Fort Washington’ (1993), romantic-comedy ‘Angie’ (1994).

In 2000, Turturro was cast in the role of ‘Janice Soprano,’ elder sister of protagonist ‘Tony Soprano,’ in the hit crime-drama TV-series ‘The Sopranos’ (2000-2007). This role which she played from 2nd season to end of series brought her name and two nominations for ‘Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress.’
Turturro made guest appearances in several TV-series including ‘Wild Card,’ ‘ER,’ ‘Mercy,’ ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm,’ ‘Nurse Jackie,’ ‘Blue Bloods,’ ‘Unforgettable,’ ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine,’ ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ ‘Criminal Minds Beyond Borders.’ She had recurring roles as ‘Judge Felicia Catano’ in ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ (2013-2017), and as ‘Heddie Hawkins’ in crime-thriller series ‘The Blacklist’ (2017-2021).
Turturro’s recent starrers were comedy-drama film ‘A Little Help’ (2010), Comedy ‘Fading Gigolo’ (2013), romantic-crime film ‘Rob the Mob’ (2014), crime-mystery film ‘Making a Killing’ (2018) and drama-film ‘Head Full of Honey’ (2018).
