Miguel José Ferrer first appeared as ‘drummer’ in the TV-series ‘Sunshine’ (1975), followed by guest-appearances in several TV episodes. He appeared in his father, José Ferrer’s, crime-drama series ‘Magnum P.I.’ (1981) as his character’s young version.
Ferrer made his film debut in ‘Truckin’ Buddy McCoy’ (1982), then played small roles in 1983’s ‘Heartbreaker,’ the 3D-comedy ‘The Man Who Wasn’t There’ and ‘Star Trek III: The Search for Spock’ (1984). He first earned recognition as ‘go-getter executive Bob Morton’ in the sci-fi action-film ‘RoboCop’ (1987).
Ferrer then appeared as ‘engineer Snyder’ in the sci-fi horror ‘Deepstar Six’ (1989), in a negative role in ‘Valentino Returns’ (1989) and as ‘vigilante’ in the romantic-thriller ‘Revenge’ (1990).
Ferrer appeared as ‘DA Spurrier’ in the TV-film ‘Shannon’s Deal’ (1989) which he reprised in the series of the same name (1990-1991). He played ‘Officer Bowman’ in the police-procedural series ‘Broken Badges’ (1990-1991) and gained popularity as ‘FBI Forensics specialist Albert Rosenfield’ in the mystery-horror series ‘Twin Peaks’ (1990-1991), followed by the movie ‘Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me’ (1992).
Ferrer starred in the comedy ‘Blank Check’ (1994) and played ‘Arvid Harbinger’ in the parody-film ‘Hot Shots! Part Deux’ (1993). He played the lead in the thriller ‘The Harvest’ (1993) and the horror-film ‘The Night Flier’ (1997). In the miniseries ‘Stephen King’s The Stand’ (1994), he featured as ‘Lloyd Henreid,’ and also appeared in the anthology-series ‘Fallen Angels’ (1995).
Ferrer lent his voice in the Disney animated-musical ‘Mulan’ (1998), ‘Jackie Chan’s Adventures’ (2003-2004) and other projects. He featured in the drug-trafficking drama-film ‘Traffic’ (2000) and remake of the political-thriller ‘The Manchurian Candidate’ (2004).
Ferrer played ‘Dr. Garret Macy’ in the crime-drama series ‘Crossing Jordan’ (2001-2007). After appearing in the series ‘Bionic Woman,’ ‘Kings’ (2009), he played ‘Lt. Valdez’ in the police-procedural drama-series ‘The Protector’ (2011). Next, he portrayed ‘Asst. Director Owen Granger’ in the action-series ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ (2012-2017). He also starred in the superhero-film ‘Iron Man 3’ (2013) and reprised ‘Albert Rosenfeild’ in ‘Twin Peaks’ revival (2017).
