Immigrant couple Ashoke and Ashima tries to adapt to the life in New York where they raise their children, Gogol and Sonia. The two generations struggle with the clash of diverse cultures, as they try to accept the other’s views. With passing years, Gogol learns more about his namesake author, grows to appreciate his heritage while trying to carve his individual identity. 

The stoner comedy follows friends Harold Lee and Kumar Patel who decide to visit a nearby White Castle fast-food outlet after smoking marijuana. What follows is a series of comical misadventures, including encountering Neil Patrick Harris high on ecstasy, racist police officers, rednecks, before they can reach their favorite burgers.
