Ed Helms made his debut in the American late-night talk and satirical news television program ‘The Daily Show’ in 2002. He remained a part of the show as a correspondent until 2009. He made his big-screen debut in the 2004 Brant Sersen-directed film ‘Blackballed: The Bobby Dukes Story.’ He next appeared in television series and shows such as ‘Arrested Development’ (2004, 2013), ‘Sunday Pants’ (2005), ‘The Colbert Report’ (2006), and ‘Samurai Love God.’ In 2006, he joined the main cast of the American mockumentary sitcom television series ‘The Office’ where he played the role of ‘Andy Bernard.’ The show ran for 9 seasons and aired its final episode in 2013. He continued to appear in television series like ‘Upright Citizens Brigade’ (2008), ‘American Dad!’ (2008), ‘Wainy Days’ (2008), and ‘Childrens Hospital’ (2008-2010). In 2009, he starred as ‘Stuart Price’ in the American comedy film ‘The Hangover’ directed by Todd Phillips. The film was a critical and commercial success and grossed over $469.3 million on a $35 million budget. In 2011, he reprised his role as ‘Stuart Price’ in The ‘Hangover Part II,’ the sequel to the 2010 film, ‘The Hangover.’ Despite opening to a mixed reception, the film became a major commercial success.

In 2022, he joined the voice cast of the children's musical fantasy comedy puppet television series ‘Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock’ where he voiced ‘Lyle Craggle.’ He gave his voice in 2 episodes of the series.
