In 1986, he wrote and directed the American war drama film, ‘Salvador.’ Even though the film was well-received by critics, it couldn’t garner much success at the box office. That same year, he also wrote, produced, and directed the American war film, ‘Platoon.’ The film received wide critical acclaim and was a phenomenal box office success, grossing over $138 million on a $6 million budget. Platoon also won 4 Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director for Stone. The following year, he wrote and directed the American drama film, ‘Wall Street.’ The film received a positive response from critics and grossed over $43.8 million on a $16.5 million budget.
