Wladziu Valentino Liberace, better known as Liberace, was an American entertainer who during the pinnacle of his success became the highest paid performer in the whole world. He was an actor, pianist, singer and a performer.
With sparkly costumes and extraordinary musical talent, Liberace made his first appearance as a soloist with Chicago Symphony, and with time became a successful musician and actor, both. As an actor he made his debut in ‘South Sea Sinner’ (1950), where he played a pianist.
He is also remembered for his TV program, ‘The Liberace Show’ (1952) that became one of the most popular television shows of all time. The popularity of the show turned him into a musical paragon, and started adding sparkly costumes to his wardrobe, and candelabra on his piano. His other shows include ‘Lily- Sold Out’ (1980-81), ‘Special People’ (1984-85), Leo & Liz in Beverly Hills’ (1985-86) etc.
His successful movies include ‘Sincerely Yours’ (1955) and ‘The Loved One’ (1965), ‘New York Stories’ (1989). His worst movies would be Merry Mirthquakes’ (1953) and ‘When Boys Meet the Girls’ (1965).
A movie ‘Behind the Candelabra’ (2013) was also made on him and his lover, Scott Thorson.
South Sea Sinner is an adventure drama film which tells the story of Jake Davis, a crewman who is wanted for wartime collaboration with the Japanese. Although he wishes to get his name cleared, things get complicated when he is blackmailed by a local hoodlum, who knows his secret.
