Larry Hagman was an American actor, writer, producer and director who rose to fame with his role as astronaut ‘Major “Tony” Nelson’ in the sitcom ‘I Dream of Jeanie’ (1965-70). However, he is best known for playing the villainous tycoon ‘J.R Ewing’ in the TV show ‘Dallas’ (1978-91). He made several appearances in TV shows such as ‘Knots Landing’ (1980-82), ‘The Wonderful World of Disney’ (1986) and ‘The Simpsons’ (1989) before he took a break from acting to get a liver transplant. He soon returned to act in shows such as ‘Nip/Tuck’ (2006) and ‘Desperate Housewives’ (2010). He also appeared in films such as ‘The Group’ (1966), ‘Here We Go Again’ (1973), ‘Harry and Tonto’ (1974), ‘Superman’ (1978) and ‘Primary Colours’ (1998). In 2012, he reprised his iconic role as ‘J.R Ewing’ in ‘Dallas.’ His last appearance came in the reality TV show ‘I Get that a Lot’ in 2013, posthumously.
