Louis Burton Lindley Jr. or Slim Pickens was an American actor best remembered for his roles as ‘Maj King Kong’ in ‘Dr. Strangelove’ (1964) and ‘Taggart’ in ‘Blazing Saddles’ (1974). For most of his career, Pickens associated himself with cowboy roles. Before entering into film business, Slim worked as rodeo performer for almost 20 years. He made his film debut in the 1946 film ‘Smoky’ in an uncredited role. His first credited role came in the film ‘Rocky Mountain’ in 1950. After that, he appeared in more than two dozen films such as ‘Down Laredo Way’ (1953), ‘Major Dundee’ (1965), ‘The Cowboys’ (1972), ‘ The Black Hole’ (1979) and ‘Tom Horn’ (1980). His last film ‘Pink Motel’ came out in 1982. His TV work appearances came in shows such as ‘The Lone Ranger’ (1956), ‘Wagon Train’ (1958), ‘Gunsmoke’(1972), ‘The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo’ (1979). He was also a voice actor.
