Julia Louis-Dreyfus began her career as a theatre artist and was a part of ‘The Practical Theatre Company’ before joining the popular television show ‘Saturday Night Live’ in 1982. She appeared as various characters on the show and remained a part of ‘Saturday Night Live’ until 1985. She made her film debut with the 1986 American horror comedy film ‘Troll’ directed by John Carl Buechler. The film was panned by critics but was a decent success at the box office.Â
In 1990, Dreyfus landed up in the American sitcom television series ‘Seinfeld.’ She played the role of ‘Elaine Benes’ for which she bagged a ‘Primetime Emmy Award’ and a ‘Golden Globe Award.’ The show aired its final episode in May 1998. Dreyfus went on to appear in television series like ‘Blue's Clues’ (1999), ‘Watching Ellie’ (2002-2003), ‘Arrested Development’ (2004-2005), and ‘The Fairly OddParents’ (2005).Â
In 2006, she grabbed the role of title character ‘Christine Campbell’ in the American sitcom television series ‘The New Adventures of Old Christine’ for which she won a ‘Primetime Emmy Award.’ The show concluded in May 2010. After making small appearances in ‘Saturday Night Live’ (2007) and ‘30 Rock’ (2010), Dreyfus joined the main cast of political satire comedy television series ‘Veep.’ Her performance as ‘Selina Meyer’ earned massive acclaim and won 9 ‘Primetime Emmy Awards,’ making it one of the most successful roles of her career.Â
Aside from television, Dreyfus has also starred in films such as ‘Jack the Bear’ (1993), ‘Fathers' Day’ (1997), ‘A Bug's Life’ (1998), ‘Planes’ (2013), ‘Enough Said’ (2013), and ‘Downhill’ (2020). She played a cameo role in the 2021 American superhero film ‘Black Widow.’ That same year, she also appeared in the American anthology television docuseries of specials ‘Marvel Studios: Assembled.’
Dreyfus is all set to appear in the upcoming American-British drama-fantasy film ‘Tuesday’ directed by Daina O. Pusic. She will also be seen in an untitled upcoming film by Kenya Barris.
