American actress Jeri Ryan began her career in in 1991 working in an episode of television series ‘Who's the Boss?’. This was followed by appearances in an episode each of tv series ‘The Flash’, ‘Top of the Heap’, ‘Nurses’, ‘Reasonable Doubts’ (all 1991), ‘The Jackie Thomas Show’ (1993), ‘Time Trax’ (1994), ‘Murder, She Wrote’, ‘Charlie Grace’ (both 1995), ‘The Client’, ‘Diagnosis Murder’ (both 1996) and ‘Dilbert’ (1999). She was also seen in a couple of episodes of ‘Matlock’ (1993), ‘Melrose Place’ (1996) and ‘The Sentinel’ (1998-99) as well as television movies ‘Nightmare in Columbia County’ (1991), ‘Just Deserts’ (1992), ‘In the Line of Duty: Ambush in Waco’ (1993), ‘Co-ed Call Girl’ and ‘Pier 66’ (both 1996).

Her first regular role came in the year 1997 when she played the extra-terrestrial investigator Juliet Stuart in the sci-fi television series ‘Dark Skies’. The series lasted only one season but helped her establish herself. The same year, she was roped in to play the Borg drone Seven of Nine in the fourth season of ‘Star Trek: Voyager’, a sci-fi show co-created by Rick Berman, Michael Piller and Jeri Taylor. The show was a big success and made her popular instantly. She went on to star in over 100 episodes of the series till 2001 and won a couple of awards too – the 1999 ‘Golden Satellite Award’ for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series—Drama and the 2001 ‘Saturn Award’ for Best Supporting Actress. Additionally, she also won nominations at the ‘Saturn Awards’ for Best Genre TV Actress in 1998 and 1999 as well as Best Genre TV Supporting Actress in 2000. Jeri Ryan lent her voice to her character in the 2001 video game ‘Star Trek: Voyager – Elite Force’.
In the year 1999, she also made her film debut with Tamara Hernandez directed comedy drama film ‘Men Cry Bullets’ and played the role of Lydia. In the year 2000, she had 3 film releases – Harry Ralston directed action-comedy drama ‘The Last Man’ (role: Sarah), Jon Turteltaub directed fantasy comedy drama 'The Kid’ (role: Larry King Guest) and Patrick Lussier directed action-horror film ‘Dracula 2000’ (role: Valerie Sharpe).
In 2001, she joined the main cast of David E. Kelley created Fox’s comedy drama series ‘Boston Public’ and played the role of Veronica Ronnie Cooke, a successful and rich corporate lawyer who becomes a high school teacher. She acted in 59 episodes of the series till it ended in 2004. The series, which revolved around the lives of teachers, students and staff members of a fictional public high school, won more than 30 award nominations and bagged around 8 of them. In 2005, she became a part of the teen drama series ‘The O.C.’ and played the recurring role of Charlotte Morgan in its 7 episodes. The following year, she co-starred with James Woods (role: Sebastian Stark) in the CBS legal drama series ‘Shark’ and was seen in the role of Jessica Devlin, district attorney and Stark’s supervisor in the first season and deputy DA and Starks’ team member in the second season. Jeri Ryan continued with the role for 38 episodes till 2008. Between 2009 and 2011, she appeared in the 8 episodes of TNT action crime drama series ‘Leverage’ and was seen as grifter named Tara Cole.
Her other television credits of the period include ‘Two and a Half Men’ (3 episodes, 2004–2011), ‘Boston Legal’ (2 episodes, 2006), ‘Iron Chef America’ (2 episodes, 2006-2009), ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ (3 episodes, 2009) and ‘Psych’ (1 episode, 2010). In her next major work, she was seen in 42 episodes (2011-2013) of ABC’s medical/crime comedy-drama series ‘Body of Proof’ wherein she played the role of the chief medical examiner and forensic anthropologist, Kate Murphy. The series has a Rotten Tomato score of 76% and IMDB rating of 7.1/10. In 2016, Jeri Ryan joined the cast of the police procedural streaming television series ‘Bosch’ and in 2020, reprised her role of Seven of Nine in ‘Star Trek: Picard’, another tv series of the ‘Star Trek’ franchise. The former series, wherein she was seen as Veronica Allen in 12 episodes, has a Rotten Tomato score of 97%, while the latter, in which she acted in 15 episodes has an 86% score on Tomatometer. The latter series once again bagged her the ‘Saturn Award’ nomination for Best Guest Starring Role on Television in 2021. She lent voice to her character in the ‘Star Trek Online’ video game too (2014, 2020).
On television, since 2011, Jeri Ryan has also made guest appearances in series like ‘Law & Order: Criminal Intent’ (2011, 1 episode), ‘Mortal Kombat: Legacy’ (2011, 2 episodes), ‘Warehouse 13’ (2011-2012, 2 episodes), ‘Major Crimes’ (2014–2017, 3 episodes), ‘NCIS’ (2015, 1 episode), ‘Arrow’ (2015, 1 episode) and ‘MacGyver’ (2020, 3 episodes). During this time, she was seen in the family action-adventure movie ‘Against the Wild: Survive the Serengeti’ (2016), the horror movie ‘Devil's Revenge’ (2019) as well as the television movie ‘Suspicion’ (2018) too.
