Kate Mulgrew is an American actress best known for her starring role in the hit Netflix series ‘Orange is the New Black’. She started her career in the mid 70s with the daily soap ‘Ryan’s Hope’. This stint catapulted her to stardom, and turned out to be her breakthrough success. She made her big screen debut was with ‘Lovespell’ and her filmography extended in the 80s with films such as ‘A Stranger is Watching’ and ‘Throw Mama from the Train’. Another big career breakthrough was waiting for her in form of the role of Kathryn Janeway in the series’ ‘Star Trek: Voyager’ in mid 90’s.Â
She furthered featured in ‘Camp Nowhere’, ‘Star Trek: Nemesis’, ‘Perception’ and ‘The Best and the Brightest’. She later became part of some celebrated TV series’ such as ‘Law and Order: Special Victims Unit’, ‘Mercy’, ‘Warehouse 13’, ‘Orange is the New Black’ and ‘American Dad!’. Other than her acting projects, she has voiced characters in the animated series’ such as ‘Batman: The Animated Series’, ‘The Pirates of Dark Water’ and ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’.Â
Apart from all the success she enjoyed on the smaller screen, she has also featured in projects that did not do well. These include ‘Captain Nuke and the Bomb Boys’, ‘Camp Nowhere’ and ‘Perception’.
