January Jones made her acting debut in the 1999 film ‘It's the Rage’ directed by James D. Stern. The film saw negative reviews upon release. That same year, she also made her first television appearance in the Episode: "Pilot" of the American comedy-drama series ‘Get Real.’ In 2001, she appeared in the American psychological mystery thriller film ‘The Glass House.’ The film was panned by critics and was a box office bomb. She was next seen in films like ‘Bandits’ (2001), ‘Taboo’ (2002), ‘Full Frontal’ (2002), ‘Anger Management’ (2003), ‘American Wedding’ (2003), ‘Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights’ (2004), ‘The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada’ (2005), and ‘Swedish Auto’ (2006).
In 2007, she joined the main cast of the American period drama television series ‘Mad Men.’ She portrayed ‘Betty Draper’ in the series which earned her a ‘Primetime Emmy Award’ and 2 ‘Golden Globe Award’ nominations. The show ran for 8 years and aired its final episode in 2015. She starred as ‘Emma Frost’ in the 2011 superhero film ‘X-Men: First Class’ directed by Matthew Vaughn. The film opened to critical acclaim and was a financial success. She next appeared in films like ‘Seeking Justice’ (2011), ‘Sweetwater’ (2013), ‘Good Kill’ (2014), and ‘Unity’ (2015). In 2015, she starred as ‘Melissa Chartres’ in the American post-apocalyptic comedy television series ‘The Last Man on Earth’ created by Will Forte. The show ran for four seasons and aired its final episode in May 2018.
In 2020, Jones was seen playing the role of ‘Carol Baker’ in the American drama streaming television series ‘Spinning Out.’ The show was canceled after one season. She is all set to appear in the upcoming film ‘God Is a Bullet.’
