Carel Struycken made his screen debut in the 1978 American jukebox musical comedy film ‘Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band’ directed by Michael Schultz. Even though the film was shot down by critics, it still managed to achieve modest success at the box office. Following his debut, he went on to star in films: ‘Die Laughing’ (1980), ‘Go West, Young Man’ (1980), ‘The Prey’ (1984), and ‘Ewoks: The Battle for Endor’ (1985). In 1987, he starred as ‘Fidel’ in the American dark fantasy-comedy film ‘The Witches of Eastwick’ directed by George Miller. The film received mostly positive reviews from critics and sits on a 66% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. That same year, he also joined the cast of the American science fiction television series ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ created by Gene Roddenberry. He played the role of ‘Mr. Homn’ and remained a part of the show until 1992. He went on to star as ‘The Giant’ in the American mystery serial drama television series ‘Twin Peaks’ in 1990. The series ran for 3 seasons and aired its final episode in 1991. Struycken was next seen in films like ‘The Addams Family’ (1991), ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth’ (1993), ‘Addams Family Values’ (1993), ‘Oblivion’ (1994), ‘Under the Hula Moon’ (1995), and ‘Oblivion 2: Backlash’ (1996).
In 1997, he starred as ‘Arquillian’ in the Barry Sonnenfeld-directed American science fiction action comedy film, ‘Men in Black.’ The film received positive reviews from critics and enjoyed a massively successful run at the box office, grossing over $589.4 million on a budget of $90 million.
