Bas Rutten made his first screen appearance as ‘Kismet’ in the 1992 crime action film, ‘Shadow of the Dragon’ directed by Jimmy Williams. He was next seen in television series, films, and documentaries such as ‘Martial Law’ (1999), ‘Freedom’ (2000), ‘The King of Queens’ (2000), ‘Shadow Fury’ (2001), ‘The Smashing Machine’ (2002), ‘Modern Warriors’ (2002), ‘The Eliminator’ (2004), ‘The Vault’ (2005), ‘The King of Queens’ (2005), ‘Backlash’ (2006), ‘Fight Science’ (2007), and ‘The Modern Warrior’ (2007). In 2009, he played the role of the ‘Drill Instructor’ in the American action comedy film ‘Paul Blart: Mall Cop’ directed by Steve Carr. Even though the film received a lukewarm response from critics, it still managed to gross over $183.3 million on a budget of $26 million. After appearing in the 2010 action-thriller film ‘Sinners and Saints,’ Rutten voiced ‘Sebastian the Wolf’ in the 2011 American fantasy comedy film ‘Zookeeper’ directed by Frank Coraci. The film was panned by critics and received a 14% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. He continued to appear in films and television shows like ‘Here Comes the Boom’ (2012), ‘Punk Payback’ (2012), ‘Myrskyn Ratsastajat’ (2012), and ‘Mercy Rule’ (2014). In 2015, he starred as ‘Henk’ in the American action comedy film ‘Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2’ directed by Andy Fickman. The film received mostly negative reviews from critics but managed to gross over $107.6 million on a $40 million budget. In 2017, Rutten joined the cast of the American television sitcom ‘Kevin Can Wait’ created by Kevin James, Rock Reuben, and Bruce Helford. He played the role of ‘Rootger Van De Kamp’ and remained a part of the show until it went off-air in 2018.
