Donald Jay Rickles was an American actor, stand-up comedian, and author. He had mainly worked in movies and TV series, and was best remembered for his comic timing. His successful films include ‘Run Silent, Run Deep’ (1958), and ‘Heroes’ (1970).
Rickles began his career through stand-up comedy by performing at a popular headliner in Las Vegas. He even roasted famous celebrities and earned nicknames ‘The Merchant of Venom’ and ‘Mr. Warmth’ for making fun of people. His film debut was in ‘Run Silent, Run Deep’ (1958). Following the success of the movie, he was seen in many other movies including ‘Bikini Beach’ (1964), ‘The Money Jungle’ (1967), ‘Where It’s At’ (1969), ‘Keaton’s Cop’ (1990), ‘Casino’  (1995), ‘Toy Story’ (1995), ‘Dennis the Menace Strikes Again’ (1998), ‘Toy Story 2’ (1999), and ‘Toy Story 3’ (2010). Some of his popular TV shows were ‘I Dream of Jeannie’ (1967), ‘Sanford and Son’ (1974), ‘Daddy Dearest’ (1993), and Hot in Cleveland’ (2011).
