In 1983, he and Don Simpson produced the American romantic drama dance film ‘Flashdance’ directed by Adrian Lyne. Even though the film was panned by critics, it was a massive box office success, grossing over $201.5 million against a budget of $7 million. The following year, he produced the American buddy cop action comedy film ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ directed by Martin Brest. The film saw critical acclaim upon release and was a phenomenal commercial success.
In 1986, he produced the American action drama film ‘Top Gun’ directed by Tony Scott. The film received a mixed response from critics and did impressive business at the box office, earning over $357.1 million on a budget of $15 million. In 2015, the film was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." He continued to produce films like ‘Beverly Hills Cop II’ (1987), ‘Days of Thunder’ (1990), ‘The Ref’ (1994), ‘Bad Boys’ (1995), ‘The Rock’ (1996), ‘Con Air’ (1997), ‘Armageddon’ (1998), ‘Enemy of the State’ (1998), and ‘Gone in Sixty Seconds’ (2000). Bruckheimer was seen producing the 2001 Ridley Scott-directed war film ‘Black Hawk Down.’ The film garnered mostly positive reviews from critics and was a moderate commercial success. That same year, he also produced the American romantic war drama film ‘Pearl Harbor’ which was also a box office success.
Bruckheimer was the producer of the 2003 American fantasy swashbuckler film ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl’ directed by Gore Verbinski. The film earned praise from critics and did decent business at the box office. He went on to produce films like ‘King Arthur’ (2004), ‘National Treasure’ (2004), ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest’ (2006), ‘National Treasure: Book of Secrets’ (2007), ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End’ (2007), ‘G-Force’ (2009), ‘The Sorcerer's Apprentice’ (2010), ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ (2011), ‘The Lone Ranger’ (2013), ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ (2017), ‘12 Strong’ (2018), and ‘Gemini Man’ (2019). He last produced the 2020 American action comedy film ‘Bad Boys for Life’ directed by Adil & Bilall. The film was a critical and commercial success.
