Elisabeth Moss was first seen in the 1990 television mini-series ‘Lucky Chances.’ The following year, she made her film debut in the American science fiction comedy film ‘Suburban Commando’ directed by Burt Kennedy. The film was panned by critics and was a commercial failure. She was next seen in films like ‘Once Upon a Forest’ (1993), ‘Imaginary Crimes’ (1994), ‘Separate Lives’ (1995), and ‘A Thousand Acres’ (1997).
In 1999, Moss' breakthrough role came as ‘Zoey Bartlet’ in the American serial political drama television series ‘The West Wing.’ She remained a part of the show until it went off-air in 2006. Soon after parting ways with ‘The West Wing,’ Moss joined the lead cast of the period drama television series ‘Mad Men.’ Her performance as ‘Peggy Olson’ earned her several award nominations, including a ‘Golden Globe Award’ nomination and 4 ‘Primetime Emmy Award’ nominations. The series ran from July 2007 to May 2015 and aired 92 episodes. Â
After making brief appearances in television series and shows like ‘Fear Itself’ (2008), ‘Saturday Night Live’ (2008), and ‘Mercy’ (2009), Moss grabbed the lead role of ‘Robin Griffin’ in the mystery drama television series ‘Top of the Lake’ for which she won the ‘Golden Globe Award’ and the ‘AACTA Award.’ In 2017, she joined the lead cast of the American dystopian television series ‘The Handmaid's Tale’ as ‘June Osborne / Offred / Ofjoseph.’ The series completed its fourth season in 2021 and will return for a fifth season in 2022.
Apart from television, Moss has also appeared in films such as ‘Girl, Interrupted,’ ‘Queen’ (1999), ‘Heart of America’ (2002), ‘The Missing’ (2003), ‘Day Zero’ (2007), ‘Did You Hear About the Morgans?’ (2009), ‘Darling Companion’ (2012), ‘High-Rise’ (2015), ‘The Old Man & the Gun’ (2018), and ‘The Invisible Man’ (2020).Â
