Casey Affleck started out as a child artist appearing in various commercials. He also featured as an extra in some movies. Casey Affleck's first big break came in 1988 when he played Kevin Bacon's brother in the television movie 'Lemon Sky.' Casey then starred in the 3-episode television series 'The Kennedys of Massachusetts.'Â
In 1995, he was cast as Russell Hines in Gus Van Sant's 'To Die For.' Casey earned praise for his performance in the movie. He next appeared in the 1996 comedy-drama film 'Race the Sun.' Affleck also played a small role in 'Floating' (1996).
In the 1997 film 'Good Will Hunting,' Casey played the role of 'Morgan O'Mally.' The movie went on to become a commercial and critical success. His second release that year was the Kevin Smith-directed romantic-comedy ‘Chasing Amy' (1997).Â
In 1998, Casey Affleck featured in the comedy film ‘Desert Blue.’ The movie was directed by Morgan J. Freeman and also starred ‘Brendan Sexton III’ and ‘Kate Hudson.’ After ‘Desert Blue,’ Casey mostly played small cameos in movies like ‘200 Cigarettes’ (1999), ‘American Pie’ (1999), ‘Drowning Mona’ (2000), ‘Committed’ (2000), and ‘Attention Shoppers’ (2000).Â
The year 2001 proved to be a bit favorable for Affleck after he got a supporting role in the heist-comedy film ‘Ocean's Eleven.’ He next appeared as ‘Sean’ in the psychological thriller ‘Soul Survivors.’ The movie was panned by critics and audience alike and received only a 4% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Â

After playing cameos and supporting roles for a decade, Casey Affleck found his first leading role in the 2006 comedy-drama film, ‘Lonesome Jim.’ Even though the movie tanked at the box office, it gave Casey the recognition he needed to blossom his career. Then next year, he appeared in ‘Ocean's Thirteen’ where he reprised his role as ‘Virgil Malloy.’Â
In 2007, Casey Affleck rose to prominence in the Andrew Dominik-directed epic revisionist Western film, ‘The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.’ His portrayal of the infamous outlaw ‘Robert Newton Ford’ in the film earned many nominations including an ‘Academy Award’ nomination. His next release in 2007 was ‘Gone Baby Gone’ where he played the character of ‘Patrick Kenzie.’ The movie was directed by his brother ‘Ben Affleck and was both a critical and box office success.
Casey starred in many successful movies such as Tower Heist’ (2011), ‘ParaNorman’ (2012), ‘Ain't Them Bodies Saints’ (2013) where he gained acclaim and praise for his performance, and ‘Interstellar’ (2014).Â
In 2016, Casey starred as ‘Lee Chandler’ in the Kenneth Lonergan-directed ‘Manchester by the Sea.’ Affleck won an ‘Academy’ a ‘Golden Globe’ and a ‘BAFTA’ award, besides being nominated for the ‘Screen Actors Guild Award’ for his performance in the film. It also became the best movie of his career. That year, he also appeared in ‘The Finest Hours’ and ‘Triple 9.’Â
The year 2019 saw the release of the drama film ‘Light of My Life’ which was written and directed by Casey Affleck. The movie was premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and received a positive reception on its official release. In the same year, he appeared in the comedy-drama film ‘Our Friend.’ In 2021, Casey Affleck starred as ‘Phillip Clark’ in the 2021 psychological thriller ‘Every Breath You Take.’Â
