Cyndi Lauper is an American actress and singer. Following a cameo in ‘Prime Cuts’ (1984), she made her film debut in 1988 in ‘Vibes’ which flopped at the box-office. After that, her movies ‘Life with Mikey’ (1993) and ‘Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle’ (1994) were released, which bombed at the box office.
Apart from failures, Lauper has tasted success as well. Cyndi Lauper’s most successful movies include ‘The Opportunists’ (2000), ‘The Naked Brothers Band: The Movie’ (2007) and ‘Here and There’ (2009). Her voice role in ‘Henry and Me’ (2014) has also garnered praise from the masses.
Besides big screen, the actress cum singer has also worked on television. She has had supporting roles in several dramas including ‘Mad About You’ (1993-1999), ‘That’s So Raven’ (2005), ‘Gossip Girl’ (2008), ‘Bones’ (2009-2015/2017) and ‘Happily Divorced’ (2012), to name a few. She has also executively produced and starred in the reality television series ‘Cyndi Lauper: Still So Unusual’ (2013).
Her Broadway credits include ‘The Threepenny Opera’ (2006), ‘Kinky Boots’ (2013) and ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’ (2017).
Life with Mikey is a comedy film which tells the story of Mikey, a former child star from a 1970s sitcom, who is now running a talent agency. Things get interesting when he meets a young girl who picks pockets for a living. He tries to help her by earning her a role on a series of TV commercials.
Janey is a talented gymnast, but she is forced to stay out of the spotlight, due to her strict father who is an Army colonel. Her life takes a turn after she moves to a new town and meets a carefree woman named Lynne, who convinces her to disobey her father for the first time and enter a dance competition.
