Christoph Waltz made his acting debut on stage. Starting from 1977, he worked extensively on TV shows.
Waltz made his film debut in the war-movie ‘Breakthrough’ (1979), followed by several European (mainly German-language) films. He appeared in the English-language TV films ‘The Mysterious Stranger’ (1982), ‘Goldeneye’ (1989), ‘Jacob’ (1994), ‘Catherine the Great’ (1995), and series, ‘The Alien Years’ (1988), and ‘The Gravy Train’ (1990).
His role as ‘Jew-Hunter, SS-Officer Hans Landa’ in Quentin Tarantino’s WWII-film ‘Inglorious Basterds’ (2009) brought Waltz international recognition and fetched numerous awards. He starred in the 2011 superhero-film ‘The Green Hornet,’ the dark comedy-drama ‘Carnage,’ romantic-drama ‘Water for Elephants,’ and the romantic-action film ‘The Three Musketeers.’
His subsequent role as ‘bounty-hunter King Schultz’ in Tarantino’s ‘Django Unchained’ (2012) again earned accolades. Thereafter, he starred in the sci-fi ‘The Zero Theorem’ (2013), biographical ‘Big Eyes’ (2014).
Waltz portrayed the Bond-villain ‘Blofeld’ in ‘Spectre’ (2015), and ‘No Time to Die’ (2021). He starred in the adventure-film ‘The Legend of Tarzan’ (2016), historical romantic-drama ‘Tulip Fever’ (2017), and the sci-fi comedy ‘Downsizing’ (2017).
Waltz made his directorial debut and starred in the crime-film ‘Georgetown’ (2019). He also appeared in the action-film ‘Alita: Battle Angel’ (2019), and the comedy ‘Rifkin’s Festival’ (2020).
