Donald Wayne Johnson, better known as Don Johnson, made his screen debut in the 1970 American film ‘The Magic Garden of Stanley Sweetheart’ directed by Leonard Horn. The film received a lukewarm response from critics and failed to perform at the box office. Following his debut, he went on to star in films like ‘Zachariah’ (1971), ‘The Harrad Experiment’ (1973), ‘Lollipops, Roses and Talangka’ (1974), ‘A Boy and His Dog’ (1975), ‘Return to Macon County’ (1975), ‘Swan Lake’ (1981), ‘Soggy Bottom, U.S.A.’ (1981), ‘Melanie’ (1982), and ‘Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp’ (1982). In 1984, he joined the main cast of the American crime drama television series ‘Miami Vice’ created by Anthony Yerkovich. He played the role of ‘Detective James 'Sonny' Crockett’ and remained a part of the show until it went off-air in 1990. He next appeared in television series and films such as ‘Tales of the Unexpected’ (1985), ‘The Long Hot Summer’ (1985), ‘Saturday Night Live’ (1988), ‘Seriously...Phil Collins’ (1990), and ‘In Pursuit of Honor’ (1995). In 1996, he starred as ‘Inspector / Captain Nash Bridges’ in the American police procedural television series ‘Nash Bridges’ created by Carlton Cuse. The series ran for 6 seasons and aired its final episode in 2001.
He continued to star in television series and shows like ‘Word of Honor’ (2003), ‘Just Legal’ (2005-2006), ‘American Dad!’ (2010), ‘Glenn Martin, DDS’ (2010-2011), ‘Eastbound & Down’ (2010-2012), ‘From Dusk till Dawn: The Series’ (2014-2015), ‘Blood & Oil’ (2015), ‘TripTank’ (2016), ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ (2017), ‘Sick Note’ (2017), ‘LA to Vegas’ (2018), and ‘Home Movie: The Princess Bride’ (2020). In 2021, he became a part of the American television sitcom ‘Kenan’ where he grabbed the role of ‘Rick Noble.’ The series was canceled after two seasons in 2022. Johnson will be next seen in the upcoming American comedy film ‘Shriver’ directed by Michael Maren.
