Jodie Foster rose to fame with some masterpieces like ‘Taxi Driver’ (1976) and ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ (1989). She began her career at the tender age of three in television advertisements. Eventually, she moved to smaller roles in films and sitcoms. Foster made her debut in in the the 1968 television series ‘Mayberry R.F.D,’ where she played the role of a little girl/fairy. The following year, she was seen in the sitcom series ‘The Doris Day Show.’ Jodie went on to make appearances in television shows like ‘The Courtship of Eddie's Father’ (1969-1971), ‘Julia’ (1969), ‘Daniel Boone’ (1970), ‘Nanny and the Professor’ (1970), and ‘My Three Sons’ (1971).
In 1972, Jodie Foster made her movie debut with the Bernard McEveety-directed adventure drama ‘Napoleon and Samantha’ where she played the role of ‘Samantha,’ an eight-year-old girl. The same year, she was seen in the sports drama film ‘Kansas City Bomber.’
Her breakthrough performance was in Martin Scorsese’s ‘Taxi Driver’ (1976) as a teenage prostitute. The year 1991 saw the release of the psychological horror film ‘The Silence of the Lambs.' Foster played the character of ‘Clarice Starling’ for which she won her first ‘Academy Award.’ The movie proved a massive hit and became one of the three films to earn ‘Academy Awards’ in all five major categories - ‘Best Picture,’ Best Director,’ ‘Best Actor,’ 'Best Actress,’ and ‘Best Adapted Screenplay.’
Jodie Foster went on to appear in movies like ‘Sommersby’ (1993), ‘Maverick’ (1994), ‘Nell’ (1994), ‘Contact’ (1997), ‘Anna and the King’ (1999), and ‘Panic Room’ (2002). In 2004, Foster starred in the Jean-Pierre Jeunet-directed French-American romantic film ‘A Very Long Engagement.’ While the film was a moderate success at the box office, it received critical acclaim from the audience and earned 2 ‘Academy Award’ nominations.
Jodie continued to star in movies such as ‘Inside Man’ (2006), ‘Elysium’ (2013), and ‘Money Monster’ (2016). Jodie Foster was last seen in the legal drama film titled ‘The Mauritanian’ where she played the role of ‘Nancy Hollander’ for which earned a ‘Golden Globe Award’ for ‘Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture.’
