Bill Nye started his career as a mechanical engineer for the ‘Boeing Corporation’ but left his job to pursue a career in comedy, on the TV show ‘Almost Live!’ (1986). He joined the show as a writer/actor and became popular for his science-related comedy. He was next seen on the television variety show ‘The All New Mickey Mouse Club’ in 1989. In the year 1991, he starred in the animated science fiction television series ‘Back to the Future’ where he voiced the character ‘The Science Guy.’Â
In 1993, Bill Nye joined hands with James McKenna, Erren Gottlieb, Elizabeth Brock, and together they came up with the live-action science program ‘Bill Nye the Science Guy.’ Bill Nye amassed great popularity from the show and won 19 ‘Emmy Awards’ for his performance. The show ran for 6 seasons and aired its final episode in February 1999.   Â
Bill Nye went on to star in TV shows like ‘The Wonderful World of Disney’ (1998), ‘Get Real’ (2000), and ‘100 Greatest Discoveries’ (2004). In 2005, Bill Nye came out with another science program titled ‘The Eyes of Nye.’ The show was motivated by the immense success of ‘Bill Nye the Science Guy’ but failed to recreate the magic of its predecessor. Bill Nye was next seen in the 2005 crime drama television series ‘Numb3rs’ where he played the role of ‘Bill Waldie.’ He remained a part of the show till 2008.
Bill then appeared in television series and shows, such as ‘The Big Bang Theory’ (2013), ‘Tosh.0’ (2014), ‘The Neighbors’ (2014), ‘Inside Amy Schumer’ (2015), ‘Quick Reviews with Maverick’ (2016), ‘Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?’ (2020).
Apart from television shows, Bill Nye has also appeared in movies like ‘An Honest Liar’ (2014) and ‘Mank’ (2020). He was last seen in the 2021 Mike Cahill-directed romance drama film ‘Bliss’ where he played the role of ‘Chris.’

Bliss is a romantic drama film which tells the story of Greg, a man who is unhappy with his life. Shortly after his divorce and losing his job, he meets a mysterious woman named Isabel, who lives on the streets. The strange thing about her is that she is convinced that the broken and polluted world she is living in, is a computer simulation.
